EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — An El Paso man was arrested and charged with murder after a person was found dead in far East El Paso.
On October 2, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence in the 12800 block of Barstow Avenue in reference to a dead person.
Upon arrival, deputies located 36-year-old Juan Oscar Becerra inside the home, where he was confirmed deceased.
Evidence at the scene indicated signs of foul play.
Through the course of the investigation, detectives identified 25-year-old Leopoldo Ortega as a suspect.
A warrant was subsequently obtained for his arrest on one count of Murder.
On Thursday, Ortega was taken into custody at the 7400 block of Cimarron Market Avenue with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force, which is comprised of members from the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), Anthony Police Department, Texas Office of Inspector General (OIG), Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), and the U.S. Marshals Service.

Ortega was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility on one count of Murder, with a bond set at $250,000.
