EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — College-bound high school seniors in El Paso will can now apply for the Dr. Xavier De La Torre Leader of Impact Scholarship.

The $2,000 annual award was established by the local chapter of the Texas Association of Latino Administrators and Superintendents (TALAS).

The scholarship, part of TALAS El Paso’s Keep Moving fund, honors Dr. De La Torre’s dedication to educational equity and leadership.

“I am thankful to have the generous support of TALAS El Paso, and I am humbled by this touching tribute,” said Dr. De La Torre.

His leadership since 2014 has propelled Ysleta ISD to rank among the top 14% in Texas and as the No. 1 school district in the El Paso region.

The scholarship aims to support students in their pursuit of college, career, and life beyond high school.
