HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University women’s basketball team will continue Southland Conference play Friday, when the Lady Lions visit Houston Christian, at 6 p.m., at Sharp Gym in Houston, Texas.
 
The matchup between SLU (2-5, 1-1 in SLC play) and Houston Christian (3-4, 1-0) will be televised on ESPN+. The game can also be heard on KSLU 90.9 The Lion, online at either www.LionSports.net/listenlive or www.LionUpRadio.org, via the following apps – Lions Gameday Experience, Live365, iHeart, Audacy, TuneIn and MyTuner Radio – or on Alexa speakers (skill must be enabled first). Southeastern is back on the road after a 69-52 conference loss to Northwestern State in the University Center Sunday. The Lady Lions will look to earn their second conference win on Friday.
 
After leading SLU in its last road game, Aliyah Collins had a team-leading season-best performance in Sunday’s loss. The redshirt junior put up 23 points against the Lady Demons, making three triples on 10-for-17 shooting from the floor. Lihi Azouri still leads the team in points per game, averaging 11.6. Collins is next on the scoring list with 11.4 points per contest, leading the Lady Lions in total points with 80 through seven games.
 
Taylor Ross remains SLU’s rebounding leader with 4.6 per game, while Bethany Graves trails that average with 4.3 per contest. Natalie Huff is still Southeastern’s steals leader with 1.8 steals per game after getting one swipe on Sunday.
 
Houston Christian has two student-athletes averaging double-digit scoring this season. Grace Booth has tallied 14.4 points per game through the team’s seven contests, reaching a season-high 18 points in a win over LeTourneau. Booth is also shooting 41.7% from beyond the arc, while Jordan Jackson is making 45.5% of her shots from three-point range. Kamryn McLaurin is second on the scoring list with 11.9 points per game.
 
Booth is also the Huskies’ rebounding leader, averaging 8.9 boards per game. Jackson is second among the Huskies on the rebounding list with 6.0 rebounds per contest. Through seven games, HCU has been effective at forcing turnovers, totaling 75 steals, averaging 10.7 swipes per game.
 
The Huskies are coming off a 91-58 loss at South Florida on Friday, Dec. 5. HCU, however, had defeated the University of New Orleans in its previous matchup, earning a 79-66 conference victory.
 
Southeastern leads the all-time series with the Huskies, winning 13 of 15 matchups. SLU also claimed the previous matchup, defeating HCU in Houston, Texas, 58-31, during the 2024-25 season.

SLU’s game against Memphis on Saturday, Dec. 20, will feature an Ugly Sweater Contest. Fans are encouraged to bring their ugliest holiday sweater for a chance to win prizes and be named the Ugly Sweater Champion of the day. Bethany Graves will be the Spotlight Player of the Game for the Lady Lions on Dec. 20. The first 150 fans to attend the game will receive a trading card featuring the Pascagoula, Miss, native, courtesy of PRIDE.
