It’s homecoming season in North Texas, making Friday night football bigger than it already is.

And with it comes the super-sized high school tradition of homecoming mums.

It’s part of Texas culture, and newcomers are trying to understand it.

Homecoming mum historian Amy J. Schultz, author of the book Mumentous, is sharing the fascinating history at an event in Arlington this weekend.

Join Amy for “All the Bells & Whistles: The upsized history of homecoming mums in Texas” on Sunday, Oct. 19, at 2 p.m. at Fielder Museum in Arlington.

No RSVP needed. No admission fee.

Just show up for a “mumentous” experience.
