SAN ANTONIO – Lights, camera, learning! Northside Independent School District has launched a fourth middle school magnet program—this one centered on multimedia and design—giving students an innovative and creative head start on their futures.

The new Jordan Magnet School is housed at Jordan Middle School, where 162 sixth-grade students are part of the inaugural class. They’re already diving into hands-on coursework that includes multimedia production, graphic design, and interactive technology—skills that prepare them for the rapidly evolving digital world.

For FOX San Antonio News Anchor Ashley Paredez, who served as a guest speaker on Thesday, the visit was especially meaningful—Jordan Middle School is her alma mater.

Returning to her former campus, Paredez was struck by the blend of tradition and innovation. While the original school building still reflects the familiar Jaguar pride, the new expansion is infused with creativity, energy, and cutting-edge technology.

During her visit, Paredez led a session on media literacy, teaching students how to verify sources and fact-check stories—key skills in journalism and everyday life. Students eagerly engaged with the lesson, and by the end, several were confidently delivering mock live reports in front of the camera.

Northside ISD’s newest magnet campus is part of the district’s continued investment in future-ready learning. The multimedia and design focus offers students a strong foundation in communication, creativity, and critical thinking—essential tools for academic and career success.
