EL PASO, TEXAS (KFOX14/CBS4) — The Amigo Airshow is set to take place this weekend at Biggs Army Airfield on Fort Bliss, celebrating the spirit of aviation.

Organizers have announced that the event, scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, will feature entertainment including moto-cross athletes, the Fort Bliss Band, a steam exhibit, and more.

Speaking to KFOX14/CBS4 on Thursday, Stephanie Goetz one of the participants in the Airsho, said she was approached by organizers of the event because her pink jet drew attention.

“Organizers knew they liked the big draw of the Pink Jet, the awe-inspiring nature that it has when we’re flying and whether it’s young girls that look up to it or breast cancer survivors and those who see this as that symbol of hope and strength that we really hope to be,” Goetz said.

She added, “So we were happy and delighted and honored to attend this event, and we’re particularly honored to be here because this is a bit of a difficult time, you know, for everyone with air shows, with not being able to have a lot of the military jets at these air shows. We’re happy to be able to support in any way that we can.”

While attendees will be able to see the borderland skies come alive with performances by the U.S. Air Force (USAF) Viper F-16 Demo Team and the Patriots Jet Team, the Amigo Airsho is set to return under new changes for this year’s event.

Organizers announced in August that changes had been made to address attendees’ previous concerns over hydration as they introduced a new water policy where attendees will be given a free water bottle provided by local hospitals.

In addition, attendees can also bring in their own sealed water bottles or an empty reusable bottle to be filled at the event.

Tickets for the Amigo Airshow are now available for purchase. More information can be found here: AmigoAirsho.com
