Two residents have died after a fire broke out in their Far North Dallas apartment unit early Saturday morning, trapping both inside, officials said.

Just before 3:30 a.m. Saturday, Dallas Fire-Rescue was dispatched to Bristol Apartment Living, a complex at 4055 Frankford Road in Far North Dallas, according to a statement from the fire department.

Responders saw heavy fire coming from the first floor of the two-story building and heard reports that residents were trapped inside, prompting a two-alarm response, according to a statement from DFR.

One resident escaped the apartment and was taken in critical condition to a hospital, where they were later pronounced dead. Firefighters found the second resident unresponsive in the apartment, and pronounced them dead from their injuries, according to the statement.
