Dense fog this morning before a big temperature drop ahead for Central Texas

  • December 14, 2025

Foggy Start to the Day

A weak, stalled front and calm winds are causing dense fog across Central Texas this morning. Visibility is especially low along and south of the boundary, where a Dense Fog Advisory is in effect. Drivers are advised to slow down and use caution.

Fog and low clouds will gradually lift through the day, but skies will remain mostly cloudy ahead of tonight’s approaching cold front. Temperatures will still be mild compared to what’s coming, but don’t be fooled — a major change is on the way.

A strong cold front moves in late this afternoon into tonight. Expect additional low clouds, drizzle in some spots, and gusty north winds up to 25–30 mph. Temperatures will plunge sharply, with overnight lows falling into the upper 20s and 30s — more than 30 degrees colder than today’s highs.

Bitter Sunday Morning and Chilly Day

Sunday starts cold, with wind chills in the teens and 20s. Highs will struggle to reach the 40s as the cold air sticks around. Winds will gradually ease during the day, becoming calm by Sunday night.

Monday begins chilly, but a warm-up kicks in through the first half of the week. By Tuesday, highs are expected to return above normal. Another fast-moving system may arrive later in the week, but rain chances remain low for now — warm and dry conditions are most likely.
