The Dallas Fort Worth International Airport board approved additional work near and around Terminal F, the sixth terminal that is expected to open in 2027.

During the Dec. 4 meeting, three contracts worth nearly $60 million were passed for various projects around DFW Airport.

According to the DFW Airport website, the Terminal F construction will cost $1.6 billion, part of DFW Forward, a $9 billion investment, according to previous reporting.

The specifics

An amended contract for Terminal F and Skylink Station was revised to add $31.2 million, raising the not-to-exceed contract amount to $1.12 billion, according to airport documents.

The Phase 1 footprint of Terminal F is being expanded at the south and southeast ends to accommodate current operational projections, which will reposition hold rooms, circulation area, gate-adjacent area and concession amenities, according to documents.

The contract, awarded to Irving-based Innovation Next+, has a completion date of Aug. 16, 2027, according to documents. Per the DFW website, Innovation Next+ is a joint venture comprised of Archer Western Construction, Turner Construction Company, Phillips May Corporation, H. J. Russell & Company and CARCON Industries, with PGAL, Gensler and Muller2 as design team members.

During the November board meeting, the contract was amended by an amount not to exceed $164 million for relocation and expansion of the Skylink Station during Phase 1 of the construction, aircraft apron paving and associated infrastructure work on the east, west and south sides of Terminal F, according to documents.

Another contract related to that was awarded to Alstom Transport USA, based in Pennsylvania, in an amount not to exceed $22.6 million for a new Skylink Station at Terminal F, to be integrated into the current system, according to documents.

The contract is for 612 calendar days and started in December.

What else?

Contracts with Oncor Electric and EAS Contracting were approved for electrical infrastructure work.

EAS Contracting, from Roanoke, was awarded a contract not to exceed $29.7 million for the modernization and replacement of the electrical system supporting the west airfields, including Terminal F. A recent assessment of airfield electrical systems identified the need to rehabilitate and/or replace electrical infrastructure, according to documents.

The contract is for 508 days and work is estimated to be finished by the spring of 2027, according to documents.

Oncor will provide electrical system modifications to support the relocated and expanded Skylink Station, as well as lowering an existing duct bank that conflicts with heating and cooling piping for Terminal F. According to documents, the Oncor contract is in an amount not to exceed $2.4 million and will be completed by the spring of 2027.
