This past weekend, El Paso filmmakers proved once again that creativity thrives under pressure. The 48 Hour Film Project brought together students, professionals, and passionate storytellers from across the city to create original short films in just two days. From the moment the starting gun went off, cameras rolled, ideas bloomed, and teams transformed exhaustion into pure inspiration.
El Paso’s Talent Shines Bright
It was incredible to see what came out of those 48 hours. Students from Jefferson and Ysleta High Schools brought their A-game, showcasing strong technical skills and fearless creativity. Independent filmmakers also took the stage with projects that ranged from heartfelt dramas to wild comedies, each one a reflection of El Paso’s growing creative pulse. What made it even more inspiring was seeing how teams of every size came together to make their vision happen, some with full crews, others with just a handful of people and a dream.
Radio Silence and Our Incredible Team
Intern Al and I (Grizz!) created our own film, Radio Silence, with the help of my cousin Elijah and my co-host Iris Lopez. Our crew might have been small, but we poured everything we had into those two days. Seeing our project up on the big screen next to so many amazing local films was something truly special. Radio Silence wasn’t the “best” movie there, but honestly, that’s not what matters. What matters is the chance to create, to collaborate, and to be part of a community that supports each other’s art.

Looking Ahead to Awards Night
On October 23rd, the 48 Hour Film Project Award Ceremony will take place, where we’ll see how our film holds up among the competition. Until then, we’re just proud to have been part of something that celebrates creativity, connection, and the beautiful chaos of filmmaking. Check out some stills from Radio Silence below, all captured by the amazing Intern Al!
