A man who walked onto a Dallas freeway Sunday night after being involved in a crash died when he was fatally hit by a passing SUV, police said.
Preliminary investigations determined the man was driving a van in the 1900 block of North Walton Walker Boulevard around 8:54 p.m. when the first initial crash occurred, Dallas police said.
The van collided with a sedan, causing the man’s vehicle to go off the road and hit a pillar under the bridge of Interstate 30 freeway, police said.
The man, who officials have not identified, then left his van on foot and entered the northbound lanes of traffic on Walton Walker Freeway where he was hit by a black SUV.

Police said the driver of the SUV stayed at the scene until police arrived.
