Arlington police said the department has made an arrest in the fatal shooting of a pregnant woman last month.

According to a news release, a 28-year-old man called 911 at about 7:40 p.m. on Nov. 12 to report that he and his girlfriend, 29-year-old Bre’Asia Johnson, had been shot while traveling along Interstate 20. When first responders arrived, Johnson, who was pregnant, was unresponsive.

She was taken to a local hospital and later died, police said. Her boyfriend was seriously injured, but has since recovered. Two children were also in the car at the time of the shooting, but were not “seriously injured,” police said.

Investigators determined the shooting was targeted, and further investigation led the department to obtain a warrant for Malik Miner, 29, who was arrested Wednesday in Midlothian.

Police determined Miner had previously been in a romantic relationship with Johnson and had been feuding with her current boyfriend. While executing a search warrant on Miner’s home, police seized his cellphone, which showed communications between Miner and the 28-year-old man injured in the shooting.

Cellphone location records placed Miner near the scene of the shooting and also indicated he had been following Johnson’s car prior to the shooting, police said.

Police said Miner faces three charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, one charge of deadly conduct and one count of capital murder. As of Thursday, he was still in the Arlington jail, with no bond set for the multiple felony charges.
