If cooking a full holiday meal isn’t in your Christmas plans, you’re not alone. Every year, a mix of national chains and select local spots choose to stay open on Christmas Day, offering Lubbock residents a place to dine in, grab takeout, or enjoy delivery.
Thanks to the LBK Foodies for providing us with the restaurants open on Christmas Day, although I recommend calling ahead/ making reservations to be sure.

Locally Owned Restaurants That Are Open on Christmas
Ponto Gaucho Brazilian Steakhouse ( 5107 82nd St #109)- Ponto Gaucho is more than a restaurant; it’s a decadent experience. All you can eat, high-quality Brazilian barbecue meats and a “salad” bar that’s to die for (yes, there’s salad, but also fancy cheese, smoked salmon, soups, and hot sides). I HIGHLY recommend making a reservation ASAP for Christmas Day.
Momotaro (8004 Indiana Ave., Suite B18)- another all-you-can-eat experience (regular menu available as well) with Korean-style hot-pot, sushi, hibachi, and other Asian favorites.
The Shack BBQ (2309 N Frankford Ave)- incredible Texas barbeque and great bar drinks, opening at 11 a.m. Christmas Day.
Kobe Japanese Steakhouse (6810 Milwaukee Ave Suite 300)- Hibachi chefs prepare a wide variety of meats, seafood, and veggies, and there’s an impressive sushi selection as well.
Cyrus Kabob (421 Frankford Ave)- Persian food favorites like beef and chicken kabobs, falafel, hummus, wings, and more.
Hayashi Buffet (5608 Slide Rd)- all you can eat buffet with Asian favorites, sushi and kid friendly items too.
Beijing House (3605 50th St)- delicious Mongolian BBQ cooked on a giant wok in front of you. I should be granted an engineering degree based on how high I can build my bowl now. Other Asian favorites are available as well.
Costamar (3420 82nd)- Mexican seafood favorites, including aquachilies and ceviche. Also tacos, tostadas, soups, bar drinks and desserts.
Crush Teriyaki and Wok (5109 82nd St #9)- massive portions at an inexpensive price served quickly and steaming hot off the line.
Kung Fu China Express (5102 60th St M)- very similar to Crush, and I like them both very much.
