After discussions with landlords over a pending sale that would aid the brand out of bankruptcy, The Biscuit Bar is closing all locations.
The Biscuit Bar, a biscuit-based fast casual concept born in Plano, is closing all locations effective immediately due to conflict between landlords of some locations and a potential buyer, founders Jake and Janie Burkett said in a statement on Facebook. While the original location at the Boardwalk at Granite Park in Plano opened in 2018, locations in Deep Ellum, North Arlington, the Fort Worth Stockyards, Coppell and Abilene followed suit.
“In 2016, the idea for The Biscuit Bar was born out of the hardest time in our lives: the death of our firstborn child. Since then, our family has grown up with The Biscuit Bar: I went into labor with Banner at the cash register while taking an order, I nursed every single one of my babies at Biscuit Bar, my mom’s rehearsal dinner for her 2nd marriage was there, and my niece Greta had her first job there. Our best-selling biscuit, the Hoss, was named after my father. Jake’s brother Nate designed our main logo. Our logo for the Biscuits for Brycee campaign was designed by my niece Ava. My father-in-law and mother-in-law worked tirelessly in business as well. So in a lot of ways, this feels like a death in the family too.” – Janie Allen Burkett in a Facebook post
Because the stores shut down shortly before the holidays, the Burketts have set up a GoFundMe through attorney David Denney of Denney Law Group to “help bridge the gap while our employees search for new work and navigate the immediate financial strain of rent, groceries, utilities, and the holidays.”
