EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — A Santa Teresa man who was arrested Tuesday for allegedly shooting his mother over 10 times had been arrested twice before in El Paso on assault charges.

According to jail records, the El Paso Police Department arrested Kevin Marin on Nov. 16, 2023, charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and manufacturing/delivering of a controlled substance, with a bond set at $105,000.

Jail records show the assault charge stemmed from an incident that happened on Oct. 28, 2023, while the drug charge stemmed from an incident that happened on July 25, 2023.

Jail records also show he was released from jail the next day, on Nov. 17, 2023, after posting a surety bond.

Then it appears Marin was re-arrested on Dec. 14, 2023, for the same aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge, and now with a bond of $150,000.

According to jail records, after his second arrest, he was in jail until March 8, 2024, when he posted a split bond.

Court documents show a jury trial for Marin is scheduled for Feb. 6, 2026.

Marin was arrested on Tuesday morning after his mother was shot 11 times at around 3 a.m.

According to a court document, Marin’s brother told police their mother had told Marin to go to sleep because “he was acting crazy.”

The brother then reportedly told police that he saw their mother take Marin to the bedroom, where she stayed with him.

The brother then said that at around 3 a.m., he heard gunfire and when he went to check it out, he found his mother was bleeding.

Marin was charged with aggravated battery against a household member with a deadly weapon and attempted murder.
