EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A man who was driving while intoxicated was arrested after striking and killing a motorcyclist early Thursday morning, Oct. 16, in Northeast El Paso, El Paso Police said.

Police say Jose Francisco Acevedo Osorio, 24, from Horizon is facing a charge of intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault after striking and killing Eduardo Adrian Munoz, 32, who was riding on a motorcycle, and injuring another motorcyclist.

Police say they responded to the crash just after 3 a.m. that Thursday, at the 10900 block of Martin Luther King in reference to a crash involving a motorcycle.

The preliminary investigation revealed that Munoz and another person on a motorcycle were traveling southbound on Martin Luther King when Acevedo, who was also traveling southbound, rear-ended both motorcyclists, police said.

Munoz died at the scene, and the other motorcyclist was taken to a hospital, police said.

Acevedo shows signs of intoxication and was taken into custody. He was booked under a $250,000 bond.
