CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A man charged in connection with the shooting death of a Robstown teen last month appeared in court Wednesday morning, requesting a bond reduction.
22-year-old Dominic Guzman, the latest suspect taken into custody in the murder of 14-year-old Shawn Sanchez, appeared before 319th District Court Judge David Stith, who denied the bond reduction request.
Guzman’s bond remains at $750,000.
The Robstown Police Department said members of the department’s Criminal Investigations Division and Organized Crime Unit, along with deputies from the Nueces County Precinct 5 Constable’s Office, arrested Guzman on Nov. 21.
Last month’s shooting shocked the city of Robstown, as a string of two shootings happened back-to-back.
Robstown PD Chief Mike Tamez said the fatal shooting of 14-year-old Shawn Sanchez was a retaliatory act connected to a violent confrontation between two teens who exchanged gunfire during a dispute involving money and guns, leaving a 16-year-old critically injured.
