Frenship ISD fills more than 600 backpacks during annual Tiger Bites winter feeding program

  • December 17, 2025

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Frenship ISD is planning ahead to make sure kids don’t go hungry during winter break.

Frenship ISD and the Rotary Club of Lubbock partnered for the district’s annual Tiger Bites program to fill backpacks to help food-insecure families.

More than 600 backpacks were filled for students to take home during the long holiday break.

Superintendent Dr. Michelle McCord says while the district continues to grow, the number of food-insecure families needing assistance grows as well.

“What is troubling, is that more and more students and children need help with food. Finances just don’t go as far as they used to,” she said. “And so these children, their parents work, but it is just not enough. Particularly around the holidays.”

Students will be out for Christmas break December 22nd through January 2nd, 2026.
