Goose Creek ISD hosted a train derailment plan on June 4, 2024.
A student at Sterling High School, located east of Houston in Baytown, died Wednesday after a fight on campus, according to Goose Creek CISD.
The other student involved was in police custody, the school district said in a statement posted to its website. The student who died, who was stabbed, according to multiple local news outlets, was life-flighted to the Texas Medical Center after the altercation, the district said.
“Because this is an ongoing criminal investigation, we will not be releasing additional information at this time,” the district said in its statement. “Instead, we ask the Goose Creek community to join us in supporting all students and staff in the aftermath of this tragedy, but particularly the family of the student who lost his life.

“Additional information about support and resources is being provided to parents and students,” the district added.
The campus was placed on a brief lockdown following the fight. Goose Creek CISD said there was “currently no known threat to the campus related to this situation.”
