SELMA, Ala. (WSFA) – A 26-year-old Dallas County man is in custody facing multiple sex-related charges involving a child younger than 12, according to the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department and the 4th Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office.
Investigators say the alleged incident was reported by the child to an adult. District Attorney Robert Turner Jr. said cases like this can go unreported, which is why he encourages families to have ongoing conversations with children about safe and unsafe contact and to foster an environment where kids feel comfortable speaking up.
What officials say happened
According to court documents, the alleged incident occurred in Selma in October. Authorities say the child reported inappropriate touching and later disclosed the allegation to an adult.

The suspect — identified as Ty’ Tarvious Carmichael — is charged with:

Turner said prosecutors plan to argue against bond during an upcoming pre-trial detention hearing.
Bond status and court date
Officials say Carmichael is currently being held without bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 19.

WSFA 12 News asked why the arrest did not happen immediately after the reported incident. Officials said investigations involving children often include coordination with multiple agencies, including child protection services, which can add time before charges are filed and an arrest is made.
