GREENWOOD, Ind. – Texas Tech graduate student Macy Blackburn was named a College Sports Communicators (CSC) First Team Academic All-American while GK Faith Nguyen and MF Sam Courtwright took home second team honors, the organization announced Wednesday.
Making her second-consecutive appearance on the list, Blackburn recorded a perfect 4.0 GPA earing a Certificate in Media and Communications Studies.
On the field, Blackburn recorded a career season in 2025, as the outside back scored a career-best five goals and tallied a single-season program record 13 assists. The all-time assist leader (46) in program history, Blackburn was also named a First Team Academic All-American by CSC a season ago.
The Keller native finished her Texas Tech career sixth all-time (63) in points and finished with the most points by a defensive player in school history. She also became just the second Red Raider in program history to earn three USC All-America honors and became the fourth player in Big 12 history to repeat as the leagues Defensive Player of the Year.
Tech’s second honoree, Nguyen, earned her first career CSC honor after recording a GPA of 3.50 in the same Meida and Communications Graduate Certificate.
A native of Costa Mesa, Nguyen went 14-2-5 in her second and final season as a Red Raiders. She allowed just 16 total goals in 21 matches this season and allowed one goal or fewer in 18 of those 21 contests, recording nine total clean sheets.
Her nine shutouts were the sixth-most in program history in a single-season while her 19 total clean sheets over two seasons were the fifth-most in Red Raider Soccer history. Nguyen closed her Tech career sporting a GAA of 0.83, the fourth-lowest career GAA on record and finished 10th all-time in total saves (127).
The Red Raiders went 27-7-7 all-time in her 41 games played, as the goalkeeper allowed one goal or fewer in 33 of her 41 all-time matches.
Tech’s third and final honoree, Courtwright, had a bounce-back 2025 season after missing the entire 2024 campaign with a season-ending knee injury. A fellow All-Big 12 selection, Courtwright scored four times and recorded seven assists this season.
Cracking the top-10 all-time in career assists, Courtwright recorded 15 helpers during her two seasons as a Red Raider.
In the classroom, Courtwright tallied a perfect 4.0 GPA.
Blackburn was one of four repeat CSC Academic All-Americans, while Tech’s three total selections were the second-most overall selections by a school. Stanford (5) led the country in total CSC All-Americans.
