TERRELL HILLS, Texas – UPDATE AT 2:50 P.M. Friday: A 64-year-old Terrell Hills woman, the wife of former Texas House Speaker Joe Straus, is safe at home after she was reported missing on Thursday night.
In a news release, Terrell Hills Police Chief Gail Baham confirmed that Julie Straus was safely located on Friday afternoon in the 500 block of Terrell Road.
“We would like to extend our gratitude to everyone who assisted in this matter,” Baham said. “Your support was invaluable in bringing her home safely.”
The search for Julie Straus drew a significant response from law enforcement.
ORIGINAL STORY: A Silver Alert has been issued for a missing 64-year-old Terrell Hills woman, the wife of former Texas House Speaker Joe Straus.
The city’s police chief confirmed the connection in a phone call to KSAT on Friday morning.
Julie Straus was last seen around 6:40 p.m. Thursday in the 200 block of Geneseo Road.
Julie Straus has black hair and hazel eyes. She is 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weighs 140 pounds.
She was last seen wearing a black sweater, black leggings and shoes that are black and white.
A San Antonio police spokesperson confirmed to KSAT that the department’s EAGLE helicopter assisted in the search for Julie Straus on Thursday night.
Terrell Hills police are asking those in the area not to be alarmed by the heavy police presence as they search for the missing person, but are also requesting that residents check their properties.
