A year of achievement and lasting legacy
Dallas ISD Trustee Dan Micciche
District 3
As we approach the end of the calendar year, I find myself reflecting not only on the accomplishments of this semester but also on the legacy our District 3 community continues to build.Â
Each year, our students, educators, and families contribute to a tradition of excellence, one that honors the past while preparing every child for a bright future.
This year, our students’ dedication is evident in their performance. I recently visited George W. Truett, Reinhardt, Larry G. Smith, Jack Lowe, Sr. elementary schools and Personalized Learning Academy at Highland Meadows. All five schools earned A ratings on the Texas Education Agency accountability system!
As the semester comes to a close, I want to wish all of our students the very best on their exams and end-of-semester assignments. Your effort and focus during this important time are key steps in your educational journey, and I am confident that your hard work will pay off. Each test you tackle is another chapter in your own personal legacy of learning and achievement; one that will carry forward into the years ahead.
Our educators carry this legacy every day. Through innovative teaching, personalized guidance, and unwavering commitment, they ensure that each student has the tools and confidence to succeed. Their work creates a lasting impact, shaping the leaders, innovators, and problem-solvers of tomorrow.
Families, you are also an essential part of this legacy. Your encouragement, partnership, and belief in the power of education amplify the successes of our students and schools. Together, we are building a foundation that will benefit not just this generation, but generations to come.
As we take pride in all that has been accomplished and continue to nurture the legacy of excellence that defines District 3, let’s also remember to take time to rest and recharge during the winter break, Dec. 22 to Jan. 5. I wish all District 3 campus staff, students, families, and community a safe, peaceful, and joyful season and a happy, healthy New Year.
Families who are still looking for information about specialty schools and programs can join a virtual Discover session at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 17. Visit www.dallasisd.org/discover to register. The deadline to apply for specialty programs and schools is Jan. 31, 2026.Â
