LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – A restaurant that burned down in Abernathy last year has reopened in Wolfforth, serving what owners call A Little Slice of Heaven.
Owners Kim and Robert Hicks didn’t know how they would recover after the fire. One year later, they’re back to serving the community in a new location along Highway 62 in what was previously the second All American Eatery in Wolfforth.
Robert said he has been blessed with the new opportunity.
“I feel like we have a new beginning, a new chapter of our life where God changed everything for us,” Robert said. “We lost something pretty amazing, and then we were handed something even more amazing.”
New partnership helps restaurant reopen
Cindy and Adam Ramos are co-owners of the restaurant. They met the Hicks at the Abernathy location and said they love their values and heart behind serving others. Cindy said she and her husband jumped at the opportunity to help with the new restaurant.
“They’re so humble and just the sweetest people ever,” Cindy said. “They make you feel like family and I like the faith that they have and it fits so perfectly with what we believe in and what we want to continue following.”
Community support helps recovery
The Hicks said they have seen overwhelming support from the City of Wolfforth and surrounding communities as they get back on their feet.
“We actually feel like they want us here and they are proud to have us here, the whole community has been really good to us,” Robert said. “We have had a lot of Abernathy customers show up since we have opened too, the Abernathy community has been here too,” Kim said.
Robert said the experience shows you’re never alone, especially on your toughest days, and encourages people to always have faith.
“Be strong and look to God, stand firm in your faith and conviction, that he is there carrying you,” Robert said. “When you look back you will see those footprints in the sand, I believe that,” he said.
Kim and Robert said the restaurant is inspired by faith, family and friends. They said when visiting, the biggest thing to remember is to never forget the pie.
The restaurant is open seven days a week from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
