Cinematic Holiday Lights on Brookshire Drive transforms one family’s yard into an interactive holiday destination

At 3601 Brookshire Drive in Plano, Christmas lights don’t just glow; they tell a story. Known as Cinematic Holiday Lights, this long-running holiday display invites visitors to step into a fully walk-through experience inspired by beloved movies, hands-on scenes and decades of tradition.

The display has been a labor of love since 1998, when the homeowners first began transforming their property each holiday season. Today, it features approximately 30,000 lights and 20 floodlights, creating a cinematic setting that feels more like a seasonal attraction than a typical neighborhood display.

A Walk-Through Holiday Movie Set

Unlike most residential light displays, Cinematic Holiday Lights are designed to be explored on foot. Guests move through themed scenes inspired by The Grinch, 101 Dalmatians, The Wizard of Oz, Cinderella, Barbie, Star Wars and more.

Kids can climb into the Sesame Street car, ride the Seven Dwarfs’ runaway mine train and pose at classic face-in-the-hole photo stand-ins throughout the yard. One of the most popular challenges invites visitors to find all 26 hidden Olafs tucked into the Frozen section.

The Personal Touch Behind The Magic

What truly sets this display apart is the family behind it. Visitors often mention how welcoming the homeowners are, with Carl and his family frequently outside greeting guests, handing out candy canes and goodie bags and making each visit feel personal.

That warmth transforms a holiday lights stop into a memory families look forward to each year.

Holiday Fun With A Purpose

Beyond the movie magic, the display supports Operation Christmas Child, a global organization that delivers shoebox gifts to children in need. Visitors are encouraged to bring small toys, hygiene items or monetary donations, which help cover shipping costs for the shoeboxes.

A clearly marked donation area near the main entrance or porch makes it easy to contribute during your visit. Last year, donations collected here helped fill more than 90 shoeboxes, turning holiday cheer into something deeply meaningful.

What To Know Before You Go

Because this is an interactive, hosted walk-through experience at a private residence, planning ahead is helpful. Cinematic Holiday Lights typically runs from Black Friday through Dec. 26, with evening hours from 6 to 9 p.m. on weekdays and 6 to 10 p.m. on weekends.

The display is located at 3601 Brookshire Drive in Plano and is free to visit. While there is no admission fee, visitors are encouraged to bring optional donations for Operation Christmas Child, which supports shoebox gifts for children in need around the world.

Parking, Courtesy And Weather Tips

Brookshire Drive is a residential street, and visitors are encouraged to be mindful of neighbors. Please do not block driveways or mailboxes, and if the immediate block is full, consider parking along nearby streets or closer to Parker Road, then walking over.

Because the display includes moving elements like the mine train and other mechanical features, rain or high winds may require some interactive components to be temporarily turned off. Checking the weather before heading out can help set expectations for the evening.
