Dallas police fatally shot a murder suspect Saturday near Town East Mall in Mesquite, officials say.
The shooting occurred near Town East Boulevard and the Lyndon B. Johnson Freeway, according to a post from the department on X.
The post said officers were attempting to make a traffic stop, which “led to an armed confrontation.”
The suspect, whom police did not identify, has died, police confirmed in the post. No officers were injured.

Detectives were gathered near what appeared to be a black body bag on a patch of grass just inches from the service road, where dozens of police vehicles were lined up behind a strip of caution tape. Officers assigned to patrol the perimeter were ordering pedestrians to step back from the scene.
No additional information was immediately available, but public information officers were on their way to the scene as of 1 p.m. to gather and share more information.
