CANYON, Texas (KFDA) – The West Texas A&M men’s basketball team returned home and defeated Arlington Baptist 102-82 at the First United Bank Center.
First Half
West Texas A&M started fast, highlighted by Zach Brown’s three-pointer 19 seconds in. Brown and Brock Mishak were firing on all cylinders along the perimeter, while the Buffs on the defensive side of the ball, forced 13 turnovers.
Defensively, the Buffs recorded 10 steals and controlled the paint with 24 inside points. Huge presence for offensive rebounds, fueled 11 second-chance points, aiding for WT to go into halftime with the lead 57-37
Second Half
WT stayed in command of the game early, Mishak and Brown scoring inside to stretch the margin to 60-37
Arlington Baptist responded with a combination of shots around the perimeter and free throws, but the Buffs answered with scoring inside from Brendan Ballard and Fontaine Williams
Later in the half, Jaden Holt’s fast-break layup helped the Buffs reach past 100 points in a 102-82 win.
Individual Performances
Brock Mishak led with 19 points, seven assists, and five steals. Williams finished with 17 points, Cowgill contributed 13 with three threes, and Holt chipped in 10 points on efficient shooting.
WT is back in action against Lone Star Conference opponents, Western New Mexico, in Silver City, New Mexico on Friday, January 2nd.
