ENNIS, Texas – A suspect in an East Texas triple murder crashed into a Buc-ees store in North Texas before shooting himself in the head Friday.
The Henderson County Sheriff’s Office said the murders happened early Friday morning.
Authorities received a 911 call around 2:30 a.m. and responded to a home in the Cedar Creek Cove subdivision. When deputies arrived, they found five people who had been shot. A man and woman were found dead at the scene. Another woman would later die at a hospital in Gun Barrel City. Two other men were transported to UT Health Hospital in Tyler for treatment.
Authorities began searching for the suspect, identified as 29-year-old Christopher Kyle Reid Jr. He was believed to be driving a maroon 2003 Dodge Caravan.
As deputies were searching for Reid, authorities in Ellis County responded to the Buc-ees in Ennis at around 5 a.m., where a vehicle had driven into the building. Authorities say the vehicle was a maroon 2003 Dodge Caravan.
The Ennis Police Department says a woman from Oklahoma was injured after she was pinned against a sales display by the vehicle. She was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Authorities confirmed to KXAS, the NBC affiliate in Dallas-Fort Worth, that the driver of the Caravan was Reid. Once the vehicle came to a stop inside the Buc-ees, Reid shot himself in the head.
Reid is hospitalized in critical condition.
Multiple agencies, including the Texas Rangers, are investigating the murders.
The Ennis Police Department is investigating the crash.
