History

BATON ROUGE, La. – The UT Arlington women’s basketball team (6-6) got an 18-point showing from the bench, but fell 110-45 to the No. 5 LSU Tigers (13-0) on the road Sunday afternoon in their final non-conference game of the 2025-26 campaign.

 

Kira Reynolds led the Lady Mavs with seven points and two blocks. Kendal Robinson also had seven points while Jadyn Atchison added six points and Mila Reynolds chipped in as well with six points.

 

The UTA defense forced 17 LSU turnovers, turning them into 10 points on the other end of the floor. Erin Sellers led the way individually for the Lady Mavs with two steals.

 

GAME FLOW

LSU jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead but UTA responded with their own 5-0 run to make it a 5-6 game with 7:15 left in the first. With the score 7-9, LSU would end the quarter on a 18-3 run to have the Lady Mavs in a 17-point hole, 27-10, going into the second quarter.

 

The Lady Mavs continued to lose ground in the second quarter and faced a 57-21 halftime deficit.

 

UTA’s deficit continued to grow after halftime, and the Lady Mavs faced an 83-35 disadvantage heading to the fourth quarter. UTA took advantage of seven LSU turnovers in the quarter, scoring five points off of takeaways.

 

LSU kept widening its lead in the fourth, constructing an 87-35 advantage before UTA went on a 5-0 run to shrink the deficit to 87-40 with 7:01 to go in the contest. LSU responded and outscored the Lady Mavs the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 110-45. UTA got a boost from its bench in the period, with non-starters scoring eight of its 10 total points.

 

GAME NOTES


The Lady Mavs are now 1-2 in the all-time series against the Tigers.
UTA held LSU to 25-percent (4-for-16) from deep, the 10th time this season the Lady Mavs have held opponents to under 30-percent from behind the arc.
The Lady Mavs’ bench came alive by adding 18 points to its scoring output, continuing their strong play on the season.
The UTA defense forced 17 turnovers.
Kira Reynolds was the lone Lady Mav to record a block, finishing with two.
UTA got a team-high 5 rebounds from Jadyn Atchison.

 

NEXT UP

Western Athletic Conference play begins for the Lady Mavs after the Christmas holiday when they open up WAC play on the road on Monday, Dec. 29, at Tarleton State. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m. CT inside the new EECU Center in Stephenville.
