In honor of The DoSeum’s 10th birthday, San Antonio’s premiere kid’s museum and play space is serving up a lively experience inspired by everyone’s favorite birthday treat: cake.

2025 Artist-in-Residence Liza Fishbone has a knack for creating alternate realities by combining a love of large-scale painting and 3D fabrication into fantastical immersive landscapes, which is exactly what she did for the DoSeum’s Birthday Cake Mountain installation.

For this installation, which runs through Jan. 4, Fishbone transforms the festive, symbolic significance of birthday cake into a layered adventure — a stroll through a magical forest with hands-on activities that challenge young minds to celebrate the enchantment of self-guided creative experiences.

$18, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. daily through Sunday, Jan. 4, The DoSeum, 2800 Broadway, (210) 212-4453, thedoseum.org.
