Los Angeles Chargers linebacker Denzel Perryman was suspended without pay Monday for two games due to “repeated violations of playing rules intended to protect the health and safety of players,” the league announced.
During the second quarter of Sunday’s game against Dallas, Perryman was penalized for unnecessary roughness after delivering a forcible blow to the helmet of Cowboys wide receiver Ryan Flournoy while he was on the ground after making a catch.
Flournoy was injured on the play and missed the rest of the game.
Perryman, who will reportedly appeal the suspension, will be eligible to return to the Chargers’ active roster on Monday, Jan. 5, following the team’s Week 17 game against the Houston Texans and Week 18 matchup against the Denver Broncos.
