COLLEGE STATION, Texas – North Dakota ran in the Arturo Barrios Invitational on the campus of Texas A&M on Friday morning and beat nine Power 4 teams. Jadyn Keeler was the highlight of the meet for UND and placed third in the women’s 6K, while the women’s team placed seventh (219 points) out of 38 teams. The Fighting Hawk men finished ninth (327 points) out of 35 teams in the 8K.
Paced by Keeler’s finish, the Fighting Hawks placed seventh in the 6K and beat out the Power 4 schools of Oklahoma, Ohio State, Texas Tech, Houston, Baylor and TCU. Keeler, who won the Roy Griak Invitational last month, recorded the second-best individual finish at a Power 4 meet in school history, placing third in the 6K with a personal best of 19:08.2. That time was an improvement of over 45 seconds to her previous best and was the top PR of the morning for the Hawks.
Shewaye Johnson had the next-best finish for UND in the 6K and took 22nd in 20:19.5. Marie-Louise Jorgensen (20:43.6) and Frida Giersdorff (21:26.5) were the next Hawks to cross the finish line and both posted PRs to finish 41st and 79th, respectively. Katherine Rogers was the final point scorer for NoDak and was 85th in a personal-best time of 21:32.5. Elle Sondag was the first alternate point scorer and crossed in 21:56.1 with a PR to take 109th, while Olivia Correale was the seventh Hawk to finish the race and took 135th in 22:11.8.
In the men’s 8K, the Fighting Hawks finished ninth and took down the Power 4 schools of Houston, Baylor and LSU.
Matej Hrebacka had the best finish of any UND runner in the 8K in the history of the meet and took 36th with a PR of 23:54.6. Louis-Lys Fanucchi crossed the finish line less than 10 seconds later and was 40th with a personal-best time of 24:03.1, while Ethan Adams clocked a PR of over 30 seconds and took 76th in 24:21.2. Aleksa Milanovic crossed the finish line in 24:45.7 to take 113th and Niko Angell was the final point scorer for the Hawks with a PR time of 24:54.0. Henrik Lindstrot had the top PR of the morning for the North Dakota men and ran an improvement of over 45 seconds to finish 131st in 24:55.6 as the first alternate point scorer, while Jonas Weschle was the final alternate and was 139th in 25:00.8.

Post-Meet Notes
* North Dakota’s women placed seventh out of 38 teams in the 6K with 219 points. They beat out the Power 4 schools of Oklahoma, Ohio State, Texas Tech, Houston, Baylor and TCU. The UND men took ninth out of 35 teams in the 8K with 327 points and finished quicker than the Power 4 schools of Houston, Baylor and LSU. It was the top finish for both UND squads at the meet in program history.
* Jadyn Keeler recorded the second-best individual finish at a Power 4 meet in program history, placing third in the 6K with a PR of 19:08.2. She won the 6K crown at the Roy Griak Invitational in Minnesota last month.
* Keeler’s finish is the best for the UND women in the history of the Arturo Barrios Invitational and beat the previous best finish of Ellyssa Peterson (19th, 21:06.8) in 2021.
* Keeler, Marie-Louise Jorgensen, Frida Giersdorff, Katherine Rogers and Elle Sondag each recorded a PR at the meet. Keeler, Jorgensen, Rogers and Sondag’s times were improvements by more than 30 seconds to their previous bests.
* Matej Hrebacka had the best finish of any North Dakota runner in the 8K in the history of the meet and took 36th with a PR of 23:54.6. He beat the previous best finish of Patrick Kipkemboi, who was 43rd (24:33.1) in 2021.
* Hrebacka, Louis-Lys Fanucchi, Ethan Adams, Niko Angell and Henrik Lindstrot all posted 8K PRs. Adams and Lindstrot’s times were improvements of more than 30 seconds.
