Mutt Monday: El Paso Animal Services accepting more cats in TNR program
EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — It’s Mutt Monday at KTSM!
With cooler weather overnight and temperatures expected to go down in January, El Paso Animal Services now has more appointments open and is accepting cats for its Trap Neuter Return (TNR) program.
Trap Neuter Return is a free service that El Paso Animal Services provides to the community to control the cat population.
When you TNR, it not only helps reduce the cat population, but cats also get vaccinated, dewormed, and microchipped. During winter, the program also helps El Paso Animal Services get ahead of kitten season before it starts.
To help, El Pasoans can visit the El Paso Animal Services website to set up an appointment to bring in a community cat. After the cats had their surgery, locals can return them to the community where they were found.
El Paso Animal Services shared with KTSM some helpful tips for Trap Neuter Return in the winter:
Don’t leave traps unattended
The less cats are inside the better
Use oil-based bait to prevent freezing
Animal Services and KTSM are ready to help you find your perfect match.
For more information on adoptions and events you can attend in your area, you can always visit the El Paso Animal Services online.
