Fort Worth Fire Chief Jim Davis, who has led the department for the past seven years, has resigned, city officials said.

According to a statement from Fort Worth, Davis submitted his resignation Friday. His last day will be Oct. 31. He was sworn in as fire chief in 2018 and has been with the department for over 30 years.

The statement did not cite a reason for Davis’ resignation. He has been on paid administrative lead since September.

In the release, Fort Worth mayor Mattie Parker said assistant fire chief Raymond Hill, who has been interim chief while Davis was on leave, will continue in the interim chief role until a permanent replacement can be made.
