After two consecutive Decembers of prepping for the College Football Playoff, Texas football has experienced life on the other side of the CFP tracks since beating Texas A&M Nov. 28 in its regular-season finale.
Some key players have opted out of the upcoming Citrus Bowl Dec. 31 against Michigan to prepare for the NFL Draft. Others announced their intentions to enter the transfer portal and have already left the Texas program. A handful of potential NFL picks have said they’re coming back for the 2026 season, and a few more will likely stay silent until after the bowl game.
