LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Lubbock police are investigating and one juvenile remains in custody after a crash involving a stolen vehicle at 82nd & Frankford.
Police say an officer spotted a stolen SUV early Saturday morning at a restaurant in the 6400 block of 82nd Street, around 3:30 a.m.
But when the officer attempted to make a traffic stop at 82nd & Milwaukee, the driver refused to stop, initiating a brief pursuit.
Police tell us as the driver attempted to turn south onto Frankford Avenue as they were fleeing east in the 5800 block of 82nd Street, but the vehicle left the roadway and struck an unoccupied passenger car and a light pole before coming to a stop in a restaurant parking lot in the 5700 block of 82nd Street.
The driver and passenger, both juveniles, were taken into custody and then taken to UMC by EMS for treatment of minor injuries.
The driver was taken to the Lubbock County Juvenile Justice Center, while the passenger was released to their parents.
