Texas Tech cornerback Brice Pollock has had a career year in Lubbock. The Mississippi State transfer tied his father Brandon Pollock’s career interception total in one season, and aided the Red Raiders in their first College Football Playoff berth.

The junior has the biggest game of his career coming up Jan. 1, but a decision on his future has been just as prominent a conversation within his household over the holiday break.

His front seven counterparts, edges David Bailey and Romello Height and linebacker Jacob Rodriguez, have been mocked across the first through third rounds of the 2026 NFL draft. Pollock could be in those same conversations if he elects to declare following the conclusion of the Red Raiders’ season.

“I’m pretty sure I know what I want to do, but I don’t want to tell you something, and something else changes,” Pollock said Saturday in a news conference.

Although noncommittal, Pollock said he decided on his own. He sought counsel from family and his defensive backs coach, Darcel McBath.

McBath was an NFL cornerback from 2009-12 for the Denver Broncos, Jacksonville Jaguars and San Francisco 49ers. He has also been coaching Pollock on and off since his freshman season at Mississippi State. McBath was the defensive backs coach at the time before leaving for Texas Tech, where the two eventually reunited.

“He’s been through the same stuff I’m going through,” Pollock said. “One thing he says is it’s my decision, and he’s not gonna try to persuade me any other way.”

Pollock said his primary focus is on Thursday’s College Football Playoff quarterfinal game against Oregon, but he has not shied from social media recruitment for next season.

A lot of active recruitment from the Red Raiders for Cincinnati quarterback Brendan Sorsby.
