With 30 points in three quarters on elite efficiency, All-Star forward Kevin Durant was the clear star in Houston’s weekend victory over the Cavaliers.

And it certainly wasn’t an outlier.

In 13 games since returning from a two-game absence (personal reasons) in late November, Durant is averaging 26.2 points and 5.3 assists for the Rockets on blistering shooting percentages of 55.1% overall, 52.4% from 3-point range, and 92.1% on free throws.

For 2025-26 as a whole, Durant is now averaging 25.4 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game while making 51.6% of his shots and 44.2% on 3-pointers. His true-shooting (TS) percentage, 64.3%, is higher than either of his previous two full seasons with the Phoenix Suns.

Not bad for a season in which the future Hall of Famer turned 37 years old.

And if you filter out games on night two of back-to-backs — a setting in which a 37-year-old is likely to underwhelm, and one which never happens in the playoffs — that TS clip rises to 66.1%.

That’s an astounding number for a perimeter-based player. To put it in perspective, Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander — the NBA’s reigning Most Valuable Player (MVP) — has a 64.7% TS over the past two seasons.

In quoting a post showcasing his efficiency and shot difficulty versus Cleveland, Durant summed it all up with two words.

“Efficiency man.”

Indeed.

Durant and the Rockets (19-10), who are now at No. 4 in the Western Conference standings, return to action with Monday’s home matchup versus Indiana (6-26). Tipoff versus the Pacers is at 7:00 p.m. Central, and the game will be televised regionally on Space City Home Network (SCHN) and nationally via NBA League Pass.

Houston is 9-1 in its last 10 home games at Toyota Center.
