Among the alarming trends in Houston over the past year is the incidence of abrupt and often deadly violence at large parties.

Saturday night at about 11:30 someone opened fire a party that began at an Airb&b and spilled over to a nearby lot.

Two teenagers were injured in the shooting just east of the Medical Center near Holman at Ennis, one teen was shot in the stomach and has been in critical condition, the other teen shot in the foot and is expected to recover.

There are few clues to help Houston Police investigators trying to find out who started the shooting and why, but officers have been looking at neighborhood surveillance video for information.

The shooting is just the latest in a trend that appeared to grow during 2025.

On May 5th Houston Police reported 17 people shot at a large party in Southeast Houston.

Then on July 21st, three teenagers were shot, one of them killed on Houston’s south side.

And just three weeks ago two teenagers were killed and others were injured at a pop-up party on Houston’s north side.

There were other such violent acts at large parties this year, but it’s the kind of trend that we hope will dissipate as we go into the new year.
