SAN ANTONIO – A cold front is sweeping through the South Central Texas region late Sunday evening, bringing gusty winds and a significant drop in temperatures.
After reaching a high of 77 degrees this afternoon, temperatures are expected to plummet to the upper 40s to lower 50s by tomorrow.
Currently, San Antonio is experiencing temperatures of 69 degrees, while Fredericksburg is at 61 degrees.
The front is accompanied by strong winds, with sustained speeds of 30 miles per hour in Austin and gusts reaching 46 miles per hour at the airport.
A wind advisory is in effect across the area until noon on Monday, with gusts expected to reach 40 miles per hour overnight.
As the front moves south, it is expected to reach San Antonio by 11 p.m. and continue to push through southern locations by midnight.
The cooler weather will persist into tomorrow, with temperatures remaining steady and a chance of isolated light showers.
The forecast for the coming days indicates continued cool temperatures, with highs of 51 degrees on Monday and 56 degrees on Tuesday.
Lows on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings are expected to be in the mid to upper 30s, with the hill country nearing freezing.
Looking ahead to New Year’s Eve, San Antonio is expected to have partly cloudy skies with temperatures in the 50s, dropping into the upper 40s.
