HOUSTON (WVUE) – LSU fell to Houston 38-35 in the 2025 Kinder’s Texas Bowl.
LSU jumped to a quick 14-0 lead in the first quarter. Barion Brown returned the opening kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown. Later in the first quarter, on third down, Michael Van Buren connected with Trey’Dez Green for a 23-yard touchdown.
Houston, led by former Tulane head coach Willie Fritz, responded to tie the game at 14. The 21st-ranked Cougars then scored again before halftime to take a 21-14 lead into the break.
Tied at 28 early in the fourth quarter, Houston put up 10 points in the last 14 minutes. The Cougars would hold on for the three-point win.
The Tigers finish the season with a 7-6 record.
New LSU head coach Lane Kiffin was in attendance for the game at NRG Stadium in Houston.
Frank Wilson was the Tigers interim head coach for this game, but is set to join Pete Golding’s staff at Ole Miss. Wilson said he will be with the Rebels for their Sugar Bowl matchup against Georgia on New Year’s Day.
