The donation provided holiday meals for 300 families and gifts for more than 900 North Texas children
Just days before Christmas, Minnie’s Food Pantry received a $30,000 donation from 1-800TruckWreck, powered by Witherite Law Group, to support its annual Christmas Food and Toy Giveaway in Plano.
The contribution helped ensure hundreds of local families could put a holiday meal on the table and see children’s Christmas wish lists fulfilled during one of the most demanding times of the year.
A Christmas To Remember
The giveaway took place Dec. 20, at Minnie’s Food Pantry, where hundreds of volunteers worked throughout the morning to distribute food and toys to pre-registered families. Demand was so high that attendees were advised to expect waits of up to three hours, and the first family arrived as early as 9 p.m. the night before to secure a place in line.
Families received turkeys, hams, traditional holiday side dishes and condiments, along with toys and gifts for children. For many, the event helped ease the financial strain that often intensifies during the holiday season.

Meeting A Growing Need Across North Texas
Minnie’s Food Pantry serves children and families experiencing food insecurity throughout North Texas, an issue that continues to escalate across the region. According to Feeding America’s Map the Meal Gap report, the Dallas–Fort Worth region now ranks third in the nation for food insecurity, with more than 1.3 million residents struggling to access nutritious food. That figure represents a 12% increase from the previous year.
Rising costs of living, the expiration of pandemic-era assistance programs and disruptions to school meal access have all contributed to increased demand for food support services.

A Broader Commitment To Community Support
The Christmas Food and Toy Giveaway is part of 1-800TruckWreck’s ongoing efforts to address food insecurity and support families across North Texas year-round. In recent months, the firm has also:
Provided turkeys and grocery gift cards to thousands of Dallas–Fort Worth residents during one of the region’s largest Thanksgiving food distributions
Donated $40,000 to local food pantries to help offset rising food costs
Supplied winter coats to 450 students through its annual “Coats for Kids” initiative
Through partnerships with organizations like Minnie’s Food Pantry, these initiatives aim to provide both immediate relief and longer-term stability for families in need.
