Arlington police arrested a 25-year-old man after he allegedly shot a man before kidnapping his ex-girlfriend.

ARLINGTON, Texas — A 25-year-old man is in police custody after Arlington police said he traveled from out of state to kidnap his ex-girlfriend.

Officers responded to reports of a man with a gun around 11:10 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30, at an apartment complex in the 700 block of Forest Hills Drive, the Arlington Police Department said in a press release. 

When police arrived on the scene, they received another call about a man with a gunshot wound nearby in the 2100 block of Park Willow Lane, the release states. Officers determined that the two calls were related.

The 29-year-old male victim was taken to a hospital and is expected to survive, police said.

Officers found that the man was shot inside an apartment on Forest Hills Drive, the release states. The male victim, two women, and two children were in the apartment when the shooting occurred, police said. 

The suspect grabbed one of the women, forced her into his vehicle and drove off, the release states. The other people in the apartment, including the male victim, escaped through a window and ran away, police said. 

Investigators found that the suspect, identified as 25-year-old Aaron Webb, is the ex-boyfriend of the woman he kidnapped, the release states. The male victim is the woman’s new boyfriend, police said. 

Witnesses provided a description of the vehicle and the suspect was quickly located in Fort Worth, officials said. 

Webb was arrested without incident, and the female victim was recovered with injuries to her face, police said. The woman told police the suspect hit her when they were in the vehicle, the release states. Police recovered a gun during the arrest, police said. 

The female victim told police she moved to Arlington from another state to escape from Webb, but he was repeatedly calling and texting her, the release said. 

Webb was arrested and charged with one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault family violence, aggravated kidnapping and burglary of habitation with the intention to assault, stalking and unauthorized use of a vehicle.
