I don’t wanna grow up, I’m a Toys ‘R Us kid. Still. To this very day. For many of us, and for whatever reason, our childhoods weren’t quite long enough, so a quick trip to the toy store for a blind box figure, a plush, or a board game is an absolute joy.

I went to the opening of our new Toys ‘R Us inside South Plains Mall (former Eddie Bauer location, near The Buckle) to relive a moment of a 90s childhood, and was delighted to see how many kids and grown-ups were marvelling at the selection of toys and games lining the shelves. What To Expect At Lubbock’s New Toys ‘R Us
First, I do need to temper your expections by saying that this is currently a pop-up location of Toys ‘R Us that we can expect to hang around until Christmas (or shortly thereafter). This location is, of course, smaller than the enormous one we had for many years across from the mall. The small space still packs a delightful punch- with plenty of variety. There are 2025 trend-worth items like blind box figures and Funkos, but also classic toys, STEM toys, baby toys, board/ card games, plushies, and much more. There is also a huge selection of cute and quirky calendars at the back of the store.
What is “missing” from our O.G. location are items like video games and clothes. Honestly, I didn’t miss them and had to think hard about what had filled the orginal space. This store is thoughtfully and cleanly organized, so it’s easy to find what you’re looking for, and a pleasure to browse casually, too.
Are you excited for Toys R Us? Here’s a little peek at what the new store has to offer-and I left plenty unphotographed, so there would be some surprises.
