EL PASO, TEXAS (KFOX14/CBS4) — The University Medical Center of El Paso (UMC) celebrated the arrival of its first baby of 2026.

The newborn, named Austin Alvarez, made his debut at 1:18 a.m., weighing 6 pounds, 8 ounces, according to a social media post from UMC on Thursday.

UMC announced the new arrival in a post on Instagram with a picture of the mother and her newborn baby.
