The Houston Filipino Street Festival is back in Sugar Land. Here’s what you need to know.

  • October 13, 2025

HOUSTON – October marks Filipino American History Month — a time to reflect on the stories, struggles and contributions of Filipino Americans. From food to art and music, it’s all about honoring Filipino heritage and the stories that continue to shape American life.

This year, the Filipino Young Professionals of Houston (FYP) is hosting its 10th annual Houston Filipino Street Festival, a daylong celebration of Filipino culture, community and cuisine. The volunteer-powered event brings together local businesses, performers and food vendors for a day filled with flavor and fun.

The festival started in 2013 as a small community gathering called Salamat — meaning “thank you” in Filipino — after FYP organized an outreach event for victims affected by Typhoon Haiyan. What began as a heartfelt thank-you to volunteers and Filipino medical workers has grown into one of the biggest Filipino American History Month celebrations in the South.
