PLANO, TX – One man was killed Saturday afternoon following a high-speed crash on Dallas Parkway, according to Plano police.

Plano Police officers and Plano Fire-Rescue responded to the scene around 12:15 p.m. in the 1500 block of Dallas Parkway southbound. Investigators say a silver Hyundai Accent was traveling at a high rate of speed when it struck a curb, left the roadway, and crashed into a concrete power pole.

Before coming to a stop, the vehicle continued into a nearby car dealership parking lot, where it struck an unoccupied Subaru Legacy. The Hyundai then caught fire. Witnesses at the scene were able to remove the driver from the burning vehicle.

The driver, an adult male and the sole occupant of the car, was transported to a local hospital by Plano Fire-Rescue, where he was later pronounced dead. His identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

No other injuries were reported. The crash remains under investigation by the Plano Police Traffic Unit.
