Texas A&M adds College Station native Houston Thomas via transfer

  • January 4, 2026

(KBTX) – Tight end Houston Thomas is returning home, the College Station High School alumnus confirmed via social media Saturday. Thomas’ agent, Forrest Lamp, also confirmed with KBTX the tight end’s commitment.

Thomas returns to his hometown after four seasons with UTSA, which included a 34-catch, 470-yard, three-touchdown season in 2024. He followed that with another 34 catches for 347 yards and two touchdowns last season.

In the Roadrunners’ season-opening loss in Kyle Field this season, Thomas reeled in two catches for 22 yards.

For the Cougars, Thomas recorded 1,551 yards and 13 touchdowns on 107 catches in three seasons on varsity. He was a consensus 3-star recruit out of high school.

Thomas is A&M’s first addition by transfer since the opening of the portal window on Friday. Tight end is a position of need for the Aggies after losing Nate Boerkircher to eligibility and Theo Melin Öhrström to the transfer portal.

CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz first reported Thomas’ commitment.
