Colorado Springs police saw domestic abuse, gun violence and road rage last week, among other incidents, with law enforcement making 281 arrests in El Paso County.
From Dec. 28 to Jan. 3, the Colorado Springs Police Department posted 10 blotter entries to its public database of incidents approved for release. Here is a recap of those entries:
On New Year’s Day, 42-year-old Aaron Wilson-Armstrong was arrested after allegedly pulling a firearm on his girlfriend during an argument and firing it in the air multiple times. Police found that tenants occupied the apartment above where the altercation occurred. Nobody was injured in the incident.
Also on the first day of the year, police arrested a second juvenile suspect in a November burglary. During the burglary, two juveniles stole a vehicle and crashed it into a business, causing an estimated $30,000 in damage. The suspects then entered the business and stole nearly $10,000 in collectables before fleeing the scene in a getaway vehicle, driven by an adult co-conspirator. The adult suspect has been arrested and identified as 42-year-old Matthew Frank.
On Friday, a pedestrian died after being struck by a car near East Espanola Street and North Cascade Avenue. The driver remained on the scene, and neither impairment nor speed seem to be a factor in the crash.
On Saturday, officers responded to a robbery around 3:30 a.m. after a female victim was robbed by a male she met at a bar. The victim was in the suspect’s vehicle, and when he offered her drugs, she declined and attempted to get out of his car. The suspect then reached across her, shut the door and took her purse. The victim was eventually able to escape without her purse, and found it empty, without its contents, about one half-block away. No arrests have been announced.
Also on Saturday, Davian Fray, 22, was arrested after allegedly pulling out a firearm and firing several shots in the air after an argument with another driver. Shortly after, Fray allegedly knocked on a business’ window with the firearm, frightening employees.
