A New IRONMAN 70.3 Comes to the Mountains of New Mexico

Set in the heart of Ruidoso, this IRONMAN 70.3 introduces athletes to a course defined by elevation, scenery, and mountain terrain. Known for its cooler climate and natural beauty, Ruidoso provides a dramatic backdrop for a race designed to challenge both physical and mental endurance.

The event invites athletes to Race the Peaks in an environment that blends outdoor adventure with small-town charm.

What Athletes Can Expect From the Course

The course takes full advantage of Ruidoso’s diverse landscape.

The race begins with a swim in the clear waters of Grindstone Lake, surrounded by forested hills and crisp mountain air. From there, the bike course travels along rolling mountain roads, offering wide-open views and steady elevation changes, including vistas of Sierra Blanca, one of the region’s most recognizable landmarks.

Athletes then transition to a run through Ruidoso’s village streets and nearby neighborhoods, finishing in a setting that feels both intimate and energetic.
